HEDNESFORDS’ HORNS STAY LOCKED AGAINST WULFRUNIANS
Hednesford continued their pre-season with an away tie against Midland Central outfit AFC Wulfrunians that ended in a 3-3 scoreline. It was only 5 minutes before the first goal went in when Paul Ellis swept home a free-kick. The hosts, however, responded well and equalised 12 minutes later thanks to a Ricky Anslow placed finish. After the break Wulfrunians took the lead after being awarded a penalty when goalkeeper Dave Parton brought down the striker before former Pitman Jake Sedgemore converted from the spot. The visitors did eventually hit back on the hour mark when Ennis headed home his second of the game via substitute Andy Todd’s cross. With 120 seconds left on the watch Hednesford must have thought the match was theirs when Stan Mugisha fired in at the near post but it wasn’t to be as the home side broke from the restart, ending with Jake King rounding Parton and slotting home with virtually the last kick of the match. Rob Smith’s men move on to Chasetown on Thursday in their busy pre-season schedule.

HEDNESFORD DRAW IN FIRST FRIENDLY
Hednesford Town played out a 1-all draw with Walsall Wood in their first pre-season friendly of the summer. A new-look Pitmen side went close on several occasions but it was the hosts that struck first blood. Lewis Taylor-Boyce’s effort took a wicked deflection before bouncing over goalkeeper Dave Parton and nicked the post on its way in on 18 minutes. Ahmed Obeng was brought on in later in the half and made a heavy impact on the game with his attacking prowess causing trouble to the Walsall backlines with every attack. However his game was cut short as he was forced to go off with a minor knock to the leg at the break. Mid-way through the second period Hednesford managed to draw level after Stan Mugisha’s effort was spilled by the home ‘keeper only for defender Chris Tilt to nip in and prod home the equaliser on 68 minutes. The only other talking point of the match was when Walsall captain Harry Harris was dismissed for foul and abusive language towards the referee. The visitors could not capitalize on Walsall going down to 10 men and the game reached an abrupt end with both teams earning a draw which manager would Rob Smith settle for, especially after seeing some of his 14 signings make their debut for the club. They now look to Tuesday when they will travel to AFC Wulfrunians in they start to work through their friendly list.

HEDNESFORD TURN BACK TIME WITH NEW KIT
Hednesford Town have unveiled their new kit for the 2015/16 season (pictured). The outfit marks the 20th anniversary of when The Pitmen reached the Conference Premier back in the 1990’s and as a recognition to this, the club have decided to bring back the unforgettable half white - half black jersey. The kit also provokes memories of playing their last season at Cross Keys in 1995 before making the switch to today’s home ground Keys Park. The club website have stated the replica kits are now on sale.

TWO NEW ARRIVALS AT KEYS PARK
14 years after departing, 33 year-old midfielder Phil Trainer (pictured) has agreed to come back to Hednesford on loan. In 2001, he helped The Pitmen survive relegation from the Conference South after being relegated from the Conference Premier the previous year. Trainer netted twice in seven games in his time at Hednesford.
Striker Paul Ennis arrived a few days later from Stalybridge Celtic. The 25 year-old has floated around non-league football since coming through the ranks at Stockport County in 2007 and has managed to pick up player of the season in 2013/14 and the golden boot last season. Rob Smith continues to please the fans with more new faces around the club.

JAMES AND ADAMS MAKE HEDNESFORD SWITCH
Jon Adams and Tom James, despite pledging his loyalty to Tamworth, have both moved to Hednesford from The Lambs. James was captured by Watford early on in his career before being loaned out to several non-league sides during his spell at Vicarage Road. James made the move to Tamworth and featured in both of their wins against Hednesford this year. Adams is not a strange face to manager Rob Smith after they worked together at AFC Telford United during his reign there. The 30 year-old then left to join Tamworth for a year and now has signed for The Pitmen becoming the latest addition to Smith’s promotion-pushing squad.
ROBINSON PUTS PEN TO PAPER AT HEDNESFORD
Manager Rob Smith has convinced striker Marvin Robinson to stay at Keys Park for another term. The frontman has been a hit with the fans ever since joining in 2010 and helping the side to play-off spots numerous times over the past 5 years. Also Tom Thorley is set to leave for AFC Telford. The midfielder joined 18 months ago and helped guide Smith’s men into the play-offs in his time with The Pitmen
